Here's my thoughts from the scrimmage Saturday morning:

*Good crowd. Probably a little more than 100 people there for it. I know that doesn't sound like much, but I went to the same scrimmage two years ago and there were 5 people in attendance then. I'm curious to see what the attendance will be like for Head Hysteria on Thursday night. Hopefully a big student turnout.

Returning players:
Faried - Looks very strong. He's put on a lot of muscle since last season. Still playing with reckless abandon. Will contend for OVC Player of the Year.
Harper - Looked really good. Glad his shoulder injury is only a bruise and nothing serious. He should have a very big year.
Stallworth - Looked a little streaky shooting the three, but he penetrated the lane numerous times after getting his man in the air off a shot fake. Maze will have to bury lots of three's for us this year to open up the paint for our post players.
Simmons - Biggest and most pleasant supprise of the scrimmage! We haven't had a chance to see the real Les Simmons yet because of all the injuries, but IMO, he'll have a huge impact for us this season. He knocked down some three's and looked good inside. He played some fantastic defense on Faried. He looked quicker than he did when he first came here two years ago and seems to really be playing with a purpose.
Hill - Had his moments. Played pretty solid. Will be a key reserve this season.
Lamb - Did not play, but looked good shooting the ball in the short practice before the scrimmage. I was told he might be nursing a groin injury and that's why he didn't play in the scrimmage.
Shingles - Did not play. MCL sprain. Out for a couple weeks.
Peterson - Looked really good. Last year he seemed to play passively. At the scrimmage he was much more aggressive on offense and hit some nice mid range jumpers.
Williams and Hosea - Both walkons played and played hard, but with the depth this team has at the guard positions, it'll be tough for them to win much playing time this year.

Newcomers:
Proffitt - Looked solid and very comfortable at PG. He'll give opposing defenses another thing to worry about when he's in the game because of his shooting ability. If Shingles can't go in time for the opener at UK, Proffitt will probably get the nod at PG.
Clemens - Also looked comfortable at the PG spot and that's where it looks like he'll see his minutes this year.
Marshall - I don't think I've ever seen a freshman basketball player at MSU with the body this kid has. Very strong. He should give us some valuable minutes off the bench this season and should be a really good one by the time his career ends.
Terrell - Very explosive. Similar to Buchanan, but not as strong as Leon yet. But he has more hops than Leon did. He had two monsterous dunks, one off of an alleyoop that looked like it was going to be too high, but Terrell climbed the ladder and threw it down with ease...and the other was a tip jam where he went over a couple people to throw it down. He's going to be a very fun player to watch and will battle Simmons for starts at the PF spot.
Beharie - Loads of potential. He moves really well. He'll benefit from going against Faried every day in practice. Should get a lot of minutes this year backing Faried up. Very bright future for him at MSU.
Goodman - Very tough on defense. Looks like he'll be a defensive specialist like Cecil Brown was. He'll be asked to shut down opposing teams
top guards.

My projected starting five, based on the scrimmage:
PG Shingles (Proffitt until Shingles returns from injury)
SG Demonte Harper
SF Maze Stallworth
PF Les Simmons (Terrell will get starts too...might depend on matchups)
C Kenneth Faried
