Great job MSU 24! That info helped a lot and cleared up a lot of question marks, although a few remain now regarding the eligibility of Sain and the
scholarship picture. Good to hear Coach mention Les Simmons so now we know he will be back, and I think he can help the team, may even be the most important
"newcomer" to next year's team which may surprise some people but I just think he has ability. But a lot depends on his health on wether or not
he can contribute. Sounds like Proffit has impressed Coach T since he hinted that he should get a lot of playing time. Also great to hear him come out and
flatly say that he will be in Morehead for the foreseeable future and I like how he siad he plans to build an "elite" mid major program like a S.
Illinois or Butler. In order to make that happen MSU needs to be supported like those schools which have followings that rival major conference teams so that
means we the fans have got to get behind this team to make this dream a reality.
MSU 24, please thank Coach T from us for providing this insight and for taking time to share with us. I'm now sitting here trying to picture what such an interview would have been like if Macy were still here! |

Well, there was a new high of 89 visitors to the blog yesturday...so I know a lot of people read it. He gave us a couple things to be looking for in the near
future in the potential news of one final signee and the release of the new hoops schedule. If the schedule is indeed released in the next couple weeks,
that'll be the earliest I can remember a basketball schedule being anounced. I got a pretty good laugh out of the most frequently played songs
bit...that's quite a diverse mixture of songs.

Great job 24. Reading between the lines it doesn't appear Profitt or Clemens is a true point and he didn't mention Tyler Brown at all so I think they
will shoot for another point guard this recruiting season. My guess is Sain isn't a qualifier.
Did we find out who left? I think it is Echols, C. Brown, Coleman and Murry. Schedule is really geared for next season. I had heard we were going on the road for the Bracketbuster again next year but it appears we will be home for that game in February. Makes the next season look pretty tough. OOC @Kentucky @ Utah State with neutral non exempt games with Fullerton and Weber State Kent State UL Monroe East Tennessee SIU Edwardsville Bracketbuster 4 more games of which 2 will be non D1 (I hope its only 2) and then 2 more games which will be interesting to see who they are. I assume they will be road games and I hope there is not a third money game. |

Why are you so opposed to a third money game MG? I dont think it's the best solution either but it would be much better than a 3rd non D1 game in my
opinion. Especially next year when if we play the right team we have a decent shot to win. My preferance for the 4 remaining games would be 1 non- D1, only
because I'm sure we'll always have at least 1, 1 more money game against a lower tier team (DePaul, Northwestern, South Florida, Rutgers, etc) and 2
home and home series which start next year on the road. But I wouldn't even be opposed to playing all 4 on the road if it meant we could scrap the non
D-1's completely which I'm sure wont happen and take either a 3rd home and home type game or a third money game against say a higher end MVC or A-10
team, since next years home schedule is already good and adding 1 or 2 non D-1 games to what it is already wont enhance it at all in my eyes.
Now if there is already for sure going to be 2 non D1 games and there is no way that is going to change then yeah the 3rd money game would be tough because it only leaves for one home and home series to start which puts us in a bind the next year. Why are the games with Fullerton and Weber non exempt? If that is so maybe the other money game or games could be an exempt tournament so we could get our other money game and another game probably against a fellow mid major which would not count against the limit. |

Grayson, I always love to read your perspective which I think is right on.
I think you can count on 2 non D1 games for sure. And since we are home for the bracketbuster, this may not be true but I think Tyndall did say that, we have nothing going on for the 2010-11 home schedule. That's Faried's last year and it should be a good season for us. If we play a third guarantee and a third non D1 we have nothing to build on with only a return game to the bracketbuster team, a road game to Edwardsville and the new bracketbuster game which will be on the road. I believe we have to start 2 home and home series on the road next year to prepare for future schedules. The Utah State event is an exempt event. I may have mistated that. |

Thank you for your kind statements MG, I always look forward to hearing what you have to say as well. You seem to have some very good information which I just
dont hear about very often.
I think starting 2 home and home series on the road is the best way to go as well. As for the other 2 games you know for sure that at least 1 will be a money game. That leaves 1 game left and the best thing would be to start another home and home (either home or away) but you are probably correct that there will be another non D1 game. I just wish it wasn't the case but I know it will be. I would even prefer the 3rd money game option to that. The question now is who will be the other money game(s) and the home and home series games. I dont care who the non D1's are but probably one will be a state team such as KCU or Thomas More.

A couple of thoughts about the interview:
First of all, nice job! That was a good read. I would like to have known more about why the Marshall game is on hold. Specifically, which team is avoiding the other and which team backed out of last year's game. Also, why on earth play UK THIS year??? The time to play them was last year. I want no part of them anymore. Too much raw talent. And what about a series with WKU? Seems like that would be a great home and home series for both programs. |

BB,
WKU's coach took some cheap shots at Coach T over a recruit who had verballed to Western then changed his mind to MSU then changed back. I'd love to get them here for a game and kick his teeth in but I dont see that happening after his comments. On a side note about this, I take it the rumors of MSU being in some kind of trouble have died down and pretty much been dismissed as falsehoods. Is this correct? A buddy of mine told me he keeps hearing about it and that we are indeed being investigated but I told him I thought it was all hogwash. Morehead Guy, since you are in that area what was your take on all that mess and did you hear anything about those rumors? |

Really? Man, I'm out of the loop lately. What did WKU's coach say about us? And, more importantly, I had no idea about the allegations against Tyndall
(I caught up a bit after reading the posts on here). I have to say, it sounds like nothing more than sour grapes by that high school coach to me. However, I am
disturbed by Tyndall's over recruiting. The last thing we want here is Calipari Lite. Unfortunately, it seems these two coaches have much more in common
these days than different. I truly hope that all of this is proven to be without merit. But the over recruiting should stop in my opinion.

Not sure of the exact quote but it went something like, unfortunately there are not a lot of morals in recruiting these days. He was discussing the recruit
they had just signed and how he had been flip flopping between Morehead and WKU, pretty much accusing Tyndall of wrongdoing. I wouldn't be surprised if a
WKU fan is the one who started this nonsense about Coach T to begin with.
As for the over-recruiting I think you have to take the best players you can get, especially at an OVC-type school. It's important to take every opportunity to improve the team when that opportunity may not come again. I think though that you have to make sure the players you are bringing in are better than what you have, if not then I dont see the point in it. I dont think there is any comparison between Calipari and Tyndall. I have no idea if Calipari is clean or not but he just gives the impression that he is shady. |

Until a player has signed a letter of intent, they're fair game to anyone. The player (David Laury) had only given a verbal commitment to WKU, so he was
still fair game until he signed. I gaurantee you we weren't the only school still going after him. It happens all the time and other programs try to sign
players we've gotten verbal commitments from as well....its just a part of recruiting. So yes, it was a cheap shot at DT by WKU's coach.
As for over-recruiting....I have mixed feelings about that. A scholarship is renewed on an annual basis, so if for whatever reason, a school or coaching staff decides to pull an athlete's scholarship, they can do that. Our staff has done this to quickly upgrade the talent level and the result has been a quick rebuilding job, which is fantastic. But on the other hand, I feel terrible for guys like Cecil Brown and Andreas Coleman, who came here when we were down and gave us three years of their lives. Hopefully, now that the engine seems to be rebuilt, we'll see less of that because there will be no need for that. Its an ugly part of college sports, but its the nature of college athletics and we're not the only school that does it. |
